A veteran of the US Navy, an accomplished musician, and the owner of a successful small business, Ray Sweeney returned to School in 2002 as a full-time student, attending Eastern University in St. Davids, PA. While managing his business and attending to his family, Ray completed a four year undergraduate music program in just 3-1/2 years and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a concentration in music and vocal performance in 2005. While Ray continued to build his business, he decided to pursue a teaching certification and attended graduate school at Immaculata University in the fall of 2011. After 1-1/2 years of vigorous study, Ray received his teaching certification in three content areas: Music (K-12), Business Education (K-12), and Technology Education/Industrial Arts (K-12).

Upper Merion Technology Education Teacher and mentor Tom Bueche writes: Having run a very successful technology based business and his numerous musical pursuits, Mr. Sweeney has an unusual catalog of experiences from which to draw for any of the subjects in which he is certified. After furthering his higher education, Mr. Sweeney is poised to bring a unique and profitable experience for his future students. It is my pleasure to have been a part of his journey, and to recommend him as an educator in your district.

Mr. Sweeney filled four long-term teaching assignments in PA before relocating to N.C. in August 2017. He is currently employed by the Wake County Public School System as a middle school CTE teacher at Mills Park Middle School.
